Happy Birthday!

Today is my oldest daughter’s 9th birthday! Yeah! This is what she got from her sister:

Can you tell, that I am proud? This is done with Porcelaine Paint by Pebeo. It is a great project for kids.  If you made a mistake, you can just wipe it off. When you are done painting,  you let it dry for 24 hours, then you bake it in the oven for 25 minutes and you are done. The paintjob is so sturdy, you can even put the plate in the dishwasher!

There is also cake:

This is a sponge cake made with 5 eggs and some cocoa powder, baked in a round spring pan. You cut off the top 2/3 of the cake, crumble it up and mix it with chocolate butter cream. Spread the mixture on top of the leftover cake. Let it sit in the fridge and smooth it out with a hot knife. The cake is covered with a thin layer of Marzipan and then iced with melted chocolate. The decoration is done with Royal Icing. I have worked 2 hours on this cake last night! (Sorry guys, there is no new yarn today.)

Oh, can I just mention, that if the butter cream does not behave, you can fix it by beating it over steaming hot water. Guess, how I know….
